expected from black people I remember the 0:04:38.840,0:04:42.640 first day of school I went to the playground and the whole well basically the whole school gathered 0:04:42.640,0:04:46.320 around my true brother and I and they wanted us to rap because they thought we were DIY R school's 0:04:46.320,0:04:52.120 cousins and we're like whoa there's only so much the school can do a lot of it falls the parents 0:04:52.120,0:04:57.520 and the education that the parents gifted them in their homes and their understanding of Britain and 0:04:57.520,0:05:03.240 their understanding of the history ofit and again and if the parents have been in one place in one 0:05:03.240,0:05:07.480 thing and they only know that they're not open to the world they're not they're sort of living to really understand what it would be like to sell in different regions different areas 0:05:56.000,0:06:01.120 of the country how objections people would have how we could overcome on them and I unfortunately I was then fured for a period of time so it had 0:08:28.320,0:08:32.960 me it gave me a lot of time to think after the initial discussions with organizations and the 0:08:32.960,0:08:37.200 things they're encountered and what they work kind of going through and I thought to myself how can I 0:08:37.200,0:08:42.400 support or help a lot of these businesses that are struggling so massively during this really 0:08:42.400,0:08:48.720 really difficult period um coincidentally well um along that my wife and I used to travel to Ghana 0:08:48.720,0:08:55.920 which is our um um our home country yeah every year and if we had go to Ghana I would see that 0:08:55.920,0:08:59.880 there were young people who overly skilled and overly competent that were they they were never 0:08:59.880,0:09:05.440 granted opportunities now as horrific as Co was on the world at times I like to call it a great 0:09:05.440,0:09:09.000 equalizer um but it leveled the playing field for a lot of individuals in different parts of 0:09:09.000,0:09:13.080 the world who couldn't gain opportunities but were able to gain them because the opportunities were 0:09:13.080,0:09:16.960 open up to everyone across the world so I thought myself that eure moment when I was walking up find 0:09:16.960,0:09:22.080 down my living room why not why not match these two opportunities why not get these organizations 0:09:22.080,0:09:26.000 who are struggling to find the right people competent skilled individuals in the UK why 0:09:26.000,0:09:31.440 not match them individuals in Ghana who can do the roles really well and as everyone's working online 0:09:31.440,0:09:36.920 why can't they do it that's a proper entrepreneur right there like you know something opportunities 0:09:36.920,0:09:41.320 and disaster going on but come on let's you know and and in a tough moment as well for you you 0:09:41.320,0:09:46.920 below you sort of everyone's down what I had as a concept and an idea yes it was challenging or 0:09:46.920,0:09:52.640 difficult going to a country I was not born in um I I never lived in didn't fully un understood the 0:09:52.640,0:09:59.320 language understand the language can Africa so the best talent from leaving our 0:10:57.880,0:11:02.200 continent Africa can't grow as a continent if the best people in the continent are constantly trying 0:11:02.200,0:11:07.360 to leave to go to Europe or go to America or go elsewhere because then who's going to develop the 0:11:07.360,0:11:11.120 you want the countries to be building themselves up exactly and the only way that can happen is 0:11:11.120,0:11:15.800 if the best talent is kept in Africa you need to give them the best opportunities then they 0:11:15.800,0:11:20.360 won't want to leave who wants to leave their Hometown or Home Country to go abroad if the 0:11:20.360,0:11:25.360 opportunities are there where they are so we aims to bring them the opportunity so they can earn 0:11:25.360,0:11:31.680 more increase the GDP of every country we're in in doing so increasing average wages increasing 0:11:31.680,0:11:37.160 living standards eradicating poverty gaining more opportunities for individuals certain areas when you walk through certain 0:15:12.720,0:15:17.960 streets at certain times how people react to you how people perceive you what people will think of 0:15:17.960,0:15:22.880 you before you've even opened your mouth and um I think that that narrative especially play through 0:15:22.880,0:15:29.360 media is very powerful if I say to now name three prominent Asian business person you probably name 0:15:29.360,0:15:34.520 name three prent caucas name them name three black businessman you probably struggle and 0:15:34.520,0:15:39.480 it's it's simply because opportunities aren't being granted to a lot of black males and females 0:15:39.480,0:15:42.800 who I do think it is hard for black females to actually break through break through the glass 0:15:42.800,0:15:50.120 cing as black male I do feel as though there is there there is a very thick glass ceiling 0:15:50.120,0:15:55.600 that stops a lot from breaking through and you'll see a lot of black males who for 10 20 years you 0:15:55.600,0:15:59.600 look through their LinkedIn or look through their experiences they only ever sales EX they're never 0:15:59.600,0:16:03.840 allowed to progress and when you speak to them and speak to it's never that they're not competent or 0:16:03.840,0:16:07.880 they're not good enough they're just not granted opportunities now there reasons for that if you 0:16:07.880,0:16:12.400 look at management structures and teams yeah which why I would emphasize on if you're a leader in a 0:16:12.400,0:16:18.240 business it a lot of it doesn't always necessarily coming out to racism where this is hindering a lot 0:16:18.240,0:16:22.560 of black males is that they're not being able to grow in organizations so if you're a black male 0:16:22.560,0:16:25.840 you're not grow in organization and you want to set up a business when you do aent you set up your 0:16:25.840,0:16:30.640 business you're setting up your business from from very limited knowledge because then you've never 0:16:30.640,0:16:36.160 had any real leadership experience management experience growing understanding of all of growing 0:16:36.160,0:16:41.080 a business at top level so how can your business Thrive at that level if you've never managed at 0:16:41.080,0:16:46.560 that level so then it's stopping so many black businessmen from progressing and growing because 0:16:46.560,0:16:50.520 they've never had experience to even growing corporate organizations and that's what the 0:16:50.520,0:16:54.240 article is really speaking on the opportunities the lack of opportunities and even when you look 0:16:54.240,0:16:59.960 at um diversity pay Gap reports across different organizations there's disparity regards to what 0:16:59.960,0:17:05.320 black people are paid in regards to Caucasians doing the same jobs and the way they're treated 0:17:05.320,0:17:11.680 the complaints the it's been happening for decades from when my dad first came to the UK and 0:17:11.680,0:17:17.560 he complaints about working what places up until now and um things are changing things are getting 0:17:17.560,0:17:23.120 better as the years do go on but um it has stopped a lot of black males from progressing and growing 0:17:23.120,0:17:27.680 when you have a truly diverse organization whether it's from a disability perspective um whether it's 0:17:27.680,0:17:35.000 from a um race perspective whatever it may be it allows you to open up the mindset of the people 0:17:35.000,0:17:40.720 in the business to better serve different and bigger groups and um that's where I do feel as 0:17:40.720,0:17:47.320 the um organizations even on shows like Apprentice that could potentially happen just so we can see 0:17:47.320,0:17:53.200 that growth yeah I think expanding opportunities granted to individuals as to to black males which 0:17:53.200,0:18:00.560 I'm I'm yet to see yet as winners yeah in the investment stages of the show yeah I like it you 0:18:00.560,0:18:05.480 know let's let's be fair and square with everyone you know everyone especially if it's a competition 0:18:05.480,0:18:10.520 let's give everyone the fair chances and life and whatever it should be a fair playing field and 0:18:10.520,0:18:14.200 come on let's go who's working the hardest who's putting in the hours who's got the passion who's 0:18:14.200,0:18:18.560 got the into certain stereotypes you find certain people are 0:18:32.560,0:18:36.920 picked to fit into those stereotypes where you find there are so many credible young black men 0:18:36.920,0:18:41.600 who could have been picked and brought to the show yeah but they aren't because they don't fit into 0:18:41.600,0:18:47.560 it's not the narrative Nar exactly so what's your work life balance like do you have a good work 0:18:47.560,0:18:53.040 life balance or not really I like to think I do um I'd have this amount time to do this and I spend 0:18:53.040,0:18:58.840 this much time with the kids and I
