this it's really lonely and I was a female 0:01:23.000,0:01:28.360 running businesses so there wasn't back then I'm I certainly wasn't the only female entrepreneur 0:01:28.360,0:01:34.400 but there wasn't many of us certainly where I live yeah in quite a small Market town so I did 0:01:34.400,0:01:41.160 it because I was lonely you know because I really wanted to mix with other entrepreneurs and gauge 0:01:41.160,0:01:46.640 myself against you know how am I doing because I you know from a very early age I've been the 0:01:46.640,0:01:53.040 boss so it's like H how can you compare yourself against other business owners where you go and put 0:01:53.040,0:02:00.120 yourself through the biggest TV show you know in the country and see so for me it was a challenge 0:02:00.120,0:02:06.800 could I actually get on the show and then how could I do on the show so besides feeling that 0:02:06.800,0:02:14.280 you know you were a bit different what in your personality really just be honest just had this I didn't even know that they were the applications were 0:03:08.160,0:03:16.560 out again um and I just come across it online on social media I think it was um and I just knew 0:03:16.560,0:03:20.920 that I was going to be a candidate so I just applied know these things I just it was just 0:03:20.920,0:03:24.800 a got I said on the show spoke to I spoke to a couple of other of the ex- candidates 0:03:24.800,0:03:30.640 and you just know yeah you just know I I did my application and I thought I'm in so how did you 0:03:30.640,0:03:36.640 find the interview process you said difficult I wish everyone could experience it because it 0:03:36.640,0:03:42.240 was the hardest thing that I've ever had to do you know I remember having the UHS meeting with Michelle put your baby to bed every night and I 0:03:53.840,0:03:59.720 said absolutely I do and she said he's not even going to know who you are in the 12we process 0:04:00.640,0:04:05.000 and that I was just like I can't I went home and spoke to my husband and said I can't do 0:04:05.000,0:04:11.320 this like I can't do it and he said you are doing it because literally like you I'm not going to think again what people don't see is we make silly mistakes on that show because you are literally 0:05:05.640,0:05:09.720 pushed to your limits well I think we make silly mistakes on the show but the show is also it's 0:05:09.720,0:05:16.520 a TV production I think which there is business within that but it's also there for entertainment 0:05:16.520,0:05:21.360 so obviously the stress that's created and the scenarios that the pressure that you put under 0:05:21.360,0:05:27.720 is deliberate to kind of you know and and as and the lack of family cont contact it's all 0:05:27.720,0:05:32.160 attract a 0:06:32.320,0:06:37.640 lot of media attention but that's not why I did it I did it for the experience whereas I think 0:06:37.640,0:06:41.280 there was some people on the show that obviously went different re think some people wanted to go 0:06:41.280,0:06:45.880 in for celebrity and do you think they were chosen and selected with that in mind that these are the 0:06:45.880,0:06:51.520 celebrity people these are business people still do you think so are still smart business people 0:06:51.520,0:06:55.080 I think every and I think that's another thing that this which is why I wanted this platform as well because it's true every single person that 0:07:05.440,0:07:09.440 was there had something there was something to them either they were incred actually had something the crazy thing for me to watch was in the house everybody's your mate and then 0:07:28.320,0:07:34.200 when it's filming we're ruthless with each other and and the switch is immediate important and every client feels like they're my only client and that's what I've managed to retain 0:10:25.720,0:10:30.840 to be able to do and I think that is probably one of the secrets of the the worked with psychologists I would definitely recommend everybody needs therapy even 0:11:35.960,0:11:42.240 if you don't think you need therapy so you worked with a therapist to help you manage stress so 0:11:42.240,0:11:46.720 they've taught you techniques to help you yeah and it's all about controlling the way your thought 0:11:46.720,0:11:52.240 process and actually also controlling that you development's always been higher on my agenda and really looking 0:12:54.280,0:13:00.200 at what is it that I can improve on personally you know and so I I've always gone into therapy therapists have said they've never met anyone so 0:13:10.960,0:13:17.160 honest or self-aware and I think you I think most people's issues that I've come across is the fact 0:13:17.160,0:13:22.320 that they're not self-aware and that actually you will find it difficult to change unless 0:13:22.320,0:13:28.120 you address the issues that you have so therapy interesting totally interesting and something 0:13:28.120,0:13:33.120 that I'm definitely going to look into into you're on The Apprentice you got on brilliant interview 0:13:33.120,0:13:39.840 process for all those months you get in you're buzzing excited competitive but then you get 0:13:39.840,0:13:49.880 fired in week one how did you take that not very well I was just completely shocked and also when 0:13:49.880,0:13:54.760 I was going into the boardroom I think a couple of people you know a couple of people in the 0:13:54.760,0:13:59.040 production team had gone Michelle you got this you ain't going anywhere yeah so of course I'd gone 0:13:59.640,0:14:06.760 really cocky if I'm being honest so really cocky didn't say too much because I genuinely thought 0:14:06.760,0:14:12.040 that he had a plan he knew what the plan was and I wasn't going anywhere he you mean Lord 0:14:12.040,0:14:20.160 sugar yeah and um and actually that was um the biggest mistake that I made was again learning 0:14:20.160,0:14:26.400 from that in business is don't ever be complacent don't ever take things for granted so I'd sort of 0:14:26.400,0:14:33.200 gone in and not really done too much the boardroom so when he fired me he just felt absolutely yeah I 0:14:33.200,0:14:39.360 was in absolute shock so it was the ne I think it was the next morning I get my phone back and so I 0:14:39.360,0:14:44.760 ring my H my husband was obviously the first call that I made yes and he was like oh thank God for 0:14:44.760,0:14:51.720 that um cuz like literally being at home dealing needed yeah he needed me and so you know obviously you know Lord sugar stopped the show because he knows he's seen you and he he's made you the 0:15:14.480,0:15:21.800 winner already after one week and I was just like I was like Lindsay honestly he hasn't I've been 0:15:21.800,0:15:28.280 kicked out but she's so believed in me so sweet and I love telling that story cuz I'm just like 0:15:28.280,0:15:34.760 as if he's stop filming so it sounds like you had the right support network around you and then you 0:15:34.760,0:15:38.960 sort of licked your whs didn't you and then got up again yeah do you know what because obviously with me they said Michelle you never appreciate what you've 0:16:42.680,0:16:48.080 achieved so far in life um and it was after that that I got a therapist for the first time even if eighth company um and I actually at this point I'd had my daughter Isabella and 0:19:26.160,0:19:30.840 I thought when the children are older because you think oh you're doing it for them all the 0:19:30.840,0:19:37.800 time it's just an excuse for me it was about not facing up to actually being a m is really hard um 0:19:37.800,0:19:44.920 you know and running businesses for me was giving me self you know gratification and also it meant 0:19:44.920,0:19:50.360 that I didn't have to face up to actually being a parent is really hard and I've not really you know 0:19:50.360,0:19:55.960 no one teaches you how to be a parent you know there's no parents school and I remember sitting 0:19:55.960,0:20:00.560 there one day and just sort of going you know I don't want the kids to be 18 and gone all hasn't 0:20:00.560,0:20:06.720 mom got a successful business but actually I've spent no time with her so hard yeah so that that 0:20:06.720,0:20:12.200 was the point but being a m wasn't natural for me because all I'd ever known was this business 0:20:12.200,0:20:19.360 treadmill of you know running businesses and um just more more more more more not necessarily more
