The Ultimate Guide to Gut Health and Energy Recovery

If you're struggling with chronic tiredness and constant cravings, Jennifer Hanway is the woman for you. Last week, Aleksandra was joined by Jennifer, a board-certified holistic nutritionist and women's wellness coach: displaying elite knowledge of health advice for women over 35. Undeniably, she is a complete expert: having a remarkable track record, having worked with members of the royal family, Hollywood A-listers, and top-tier CEOs to optimise their health and performance. During their talk, she gives some of her best advice as a health coach...

Breaking the "Normal" Tiredness Myth

It is common to feel exhausted, but it is not normal. Many people mistake chronic fatigue for a natural part of a busy life, yet Jennifer explains that this is often a sign of biological dysregulation.

"95% of what's happening is in your biology; you've wired your biology to want those things,"

She notes regarding the cycle of sugar and caffeine reliance. Phasing these out can drastically improve sleep quality and reduce lethargy.

Ending Cravings with the "Suit of Armour"

To eliminate bad cravings, you must proactively fuel your body. Jennifer suggests anchoring every meal around 30 grams of protein, healthy fats, and vegetables. This combination acts as a "suit of armour" for your blood sugar, preventing the spikes and crashes that lead to the cookie jar.

The Gut-Sleep-Stress Connection

Gut health is the foundation of all health. Dysregulated cortisol (the stress hormone), despite being vital in regulated doses is a primary culprit for late-night wake-ups. By managing stress through "micro-moments" and avoiding blue light from screens before bed, you can protect your melatonin production and improve digestive function.

Hydration Beyond Just Water

Dehydration is a silent energy killer. Jennifer emphasizes that plain water is often not enough because we filter out essential minerals. Incorporating electrolytes with magnesium helps keep water in your cells, supporting focus and metabolism.

The Power of Abundance over Deprivation

Health is not about what you take away, but what you add in. "Think about where you can add abundance to your diet," Jennifer advises. Start by adding protein to your current meals rather than cutting out your favorite foods immediately. This shift in mindset prevents the "deprivation trap" and leads to sustainable changes.
