The path that we need to go down is often hard. Right. And no one has taught you, or, or no one has said to you, 0:10:40.320,0:10:45.280 well actually it's a big wide world out there. Have you considered this? Have you 0:10:45.280,0:10:50.560 thought about this instead? Have you actually applied this instead? What you don't change, you accept Exactly. Precisely that. A lot, a lot, lot of questions. Yeah, absolutely. Um, but neuroplasticity, 0:11:20.000,0:11:24.880 which is scientific, actually says to us that we're not, we can rewire our minds. 0:11:24.880,0:11:30.240 And all we need to do is exactly what I was saying, is do something slightly differently, 0:11:30.240,0:11:35.920 right? So the minute you, you break a pattern, which is by doing something slightly differently. 0:11:35.920,0:11:40.880 So for example, you keep thinking, I can't, like, you know, someone. Proposes something 0:11:40.880,0:11:44.800 to you? Um, let's go back to the leadership, um, scenario I spoke about earlier. And you 0:11:44.800,0:11:48.320 immediately think, no, I can't, I can't do that. I can't become a CEO. 0:11:48.320,0:11:52.880 I'm not capable of being a CEO. But what if you twist? There's, you know, there's some people that say the imposter syndrome is, 0:12:45.360,0:12:49.440 I think that started from a lady, famous lady that's done a tape talk. 0:12:49.440,0:12:52.880 Mel Robbins. Yes. And she said, you know, the imposter syndrome, fake it till you make it. And 0:12:52.880,0:12:56.480 some people are saying, you know, don't fake it till you make it. But, but this is like, do you lie to yourself? 0:13:02.400,0:13:05.120 When is the imposter syndrome real? Do you learn along the way? Like. I went through imposter syndrome when I was in the global 0:13:11.040,0:13:17.520 executive MBA, so it's like I'm surrounded by 39 brilliant minds from all over the world, right? 0:13:17.520,0:13:22.720 And I'm in this environment where, yeah, we, we do everything together. We go to different 0:13:22.720,0:13:28.320 countries together, we learn together. So at some point in my, especially in the beginning, 0:13:28.320,0:13:32.880 I kept questioning whether my views were valid, you know, so it's, it's kind of like I'm, 0:13:32.880,0:13:36.400 am I clever enough to be in the midst of this, like really, really brilliant people? 0:13:36.400,0:13:39.840 Um, am I smart enough? You know, am I good enough? Like, and also there is, 0:13:39.840,0:13:43.920 there is a lot to do with, um, class participation in, throughout the 0:13:43.920,0:13:47.840 program. Yeah. So we have to participate. In fact, we are marked on class participation, 0:13:47.840,0:13:52.000 but you get that niggling voice, honestly, I'll be in class and that voice and, you know, the, the. 0:13:52.000,0:13:56.320 They're asking us questions and then I have a thought in my head, I'm like, 0:13:56.320,0:13:59.680 nah, that's, nah, that doesn't make any sense, right? Mm-hmm. And then I hear 0:13:59.680,0:14:02.080 someone else say something similar to what I was thinking. I'm like, 0:14:02.080,0:14:05.360 but hang on a minute. I could have said that. 'cause I was thinking that. 0:14:05.360,0:14:08.480 You don't just go in, you know, and speak to everyone, like in an open classroom and say, 0:14:08.480,0:14:11.440 by the way, this is how I'm feeling. It's like you pick your moments, 0:14:11.440,0:14:13.680 you have people that you are kind of close to, and you start saying 0:14:13.680,0:14:17.440 to them, oh, you know, like when professor, you know, um, one professor Pedro said that I kind of, 0:14:17.440,0:14:20.640 I was thinking that in my head, but I felt a bit uncomfortable saying it, and. 0:14:21.440,0:14:25.520 What I started realizing by doing that, when I started sharing that is that other people started 0:14:25.520,0:14:29.680 saying, oh, I felt the same. Mm-hmm Me too. Oh, this is how I felt when this happened. This is 0:14:29.680,0:14:35.280 how I felt when this happened. Then I realized I wasn't alone. And when I started looking into this 0:14:35.280,0:14:39.120 phenomenon called imposter syndrome, whether people believe it or not, um, it actually 0:14:39.120,0:14:45.200 says that 70% of people in the world at some point in their life feel imposter syndrome. 0:14:45.200,0:14:50.720 That's a lot of people that, so basically the point here is you aren't alone, and the best way 0:14:50.720,0:14:56.800 to combat imposter syndrome is by talking about it. When you name it and shame it, you realize 0:14:56.800,0:15:01.200 that there's lots of other people that feel the same way. It's like identifying a bug in the app. 0:15:01.200,0:15:05.280 Exactly. And once you can name it, then it's like, ah, actually it's not, it's not so bad anymore. 0:15:05.280,0:15:11.040 Right. Yeah. I love that. I love that. Okay, so let's talk about some of the little lies we 0:15:11.040,0:15:15.520 tell ourselves that quietly sabotage our success. So I'm not good enough. I'm not 0:15:15.520,0:15:19.160 clever enough. What else do we tell ourselves? I'm not good enough. I'm not clever enough. 0:15:19.160,0:15:24.560 Um, I'm not, um, trained. I don't have enough skill sets to get to that place. There's so 0:15:24.560,0:15:29.520 many stories. I'm not one of those people that achieve that. Yes, I'm not, I'm not, 0:15:29.520,0:15:34.160 I haven't earned my seats around the table, you know? Yeah. So you get into a room of, 0:15:34.160,0:15:37.760 yeah, like, like this scenario I gave you of people that are, you know, doing very well in 0:15:37.760,0:15:39.440 life, and then suddenly you are like, oh my God. 0:15:39.440,0:15:42.560 You go into your shell and you think, no, no, no, this is not my room. It's, it's very 0:15:42.560,0:15:46.320 uncomfortable in here. You know?
